Alessandro Raschellà received his telecommunication engineering degree (2007) from the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria (Italy). From March 2008 to January 2009 he worked at the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria and at the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) of Barcelona (Spain) as research worker about the performance study of Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) over UMTS networks when the transport technology High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) is used. From February 2009 to August 2009 he collaborated on the SALICE (Localization and Communication System supported by the Satellite for Emergency Services) research project, at the University Mediterranea of Reggio Calabria. In such a project it was investigated how High Altitude Platforms (HAPs) can efficiently support MBMS services in a scenario in which the terrestrial network is not available. From October 2009 he has been a PhD student member of the Mobile Communication Research Group (GRCM) of the Department of Signal Theory and Communications (TSC) at the UPC.

His current research interests include Cognitive Radio systems, with particular emphasis on the development of a real-time testbed by USRP platform and GNU Radio software to test innovative algorithms to manage, create, maintain and force termination in Opportunistic Networks.
